Ruffing Parent Association Meeting Minutes from Sept. 9 & 10, 2009

Wednesday, October. 7, 2009 attendees:

PA Board – Nivi Engineer, Steve Paulini , Melissa Gleeson , Nital Subash

Nivi Engineer called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm.

First on the agenda was reviewing old business. Nivi provided a PTLS summary. We then moved on to new business. The first item discussed was the upcoming event on Oct. 15th, the speaker, which is part of the 50th Anniversary year celebration. Volunteers are still needed for this event, which Cynthia Trotta is coordinating.

Next up was the Diwali celebration which will be on Friday, Oct. 16th. Nital Subhas is chairing the event and gave us an overview of the celebration, what they are doing with the children, and what is still needed for the event.

We then moved on to the Pumpkin Party. We discussed what each of the classes is doing. Thus far we have the toddler class doing cookie decorating, the all day children’s house is doing cotton candy, children’s house (Natalie’s class) is doing the bat cave and crafts in cooperation with lower elementary. Flyers and ticket order forms went out on Oct. 8, 2009. We discussed the actual layout of the Pumpkin Party, and how to configure two entrances. One for those that have pre-paid and one for people that need to buy tickets. We also went into the supply closet to attempt to get an inventory on supplies. While in there it was decided it would be easier for the different committees to go to the supply closet individually and see if they can find items that they could use.

Steve Paulini provided an update on the treasury status. Steve is looking into the budget for Pumpkin Party last year.

Nital Subhas, the class parent coordinator, went over the list of all the class parents. We discussed their roles and responsibilities in regard to the pumpkin party.

We briefly touched on technology, the status of the website and what additionally needed to be added.

Finally, we closed the meeting reviewing CCIS announcements which this year involves a Wellness Initiative. We reviewed the four areas of the wellness initiative highlighted in their September NEWS, and agreed that we looked forward to hearing more about what resources will be available through this program.
